WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?
Chemical peel is a technique that is used to help skin become more youthful, clearer, and healthier. The technique uses concentrated sugar cane juice that has become acidic. This is applied to your skin and helps separate the old skin layer that is damaged and helps regenerate a new layer of skin that appears healthier. This is a process that requires six treatments over several months.

WHAT CAN A CHEMICAL PEEL DO?
Chemical peels can treat fine lines and wrinkles. They can improve acne as well as scarring from acne and or other brown spots that might have occurred with time and sun exposure. Chemical peels can help brighten and even out your skin as well as improve the overall tone of your skin.

WHAT TYPE OF PEEL SHOULD I GET?
There are four types of chemical peels.
1. Topical peel-this is what you can buy in the stores without seeing a specialist. They have not been shown to be clinically effective.

2. Superficial Progressive Peels-this penetrates into the first layer and to the top of the second layer of skin. The peels can vary from different strengths, so as you increase your strength, you can get a deeper peel which will enhance your skin. Superficial peels DO NOT have any down time. You may return to work that day.

3. Medium Depth Peels-Penetrate into the second layer of skin, requiring some anesthesia for comfort and require 7-10 days of down time. This is for people who have more extensive sun damage and wrinkles.

4. Deep Peels-penetrates deep into the dermis, the second layer of skin. It is used for people suffering from actinic keratoses, severe scarring. It requires sedation and a considerable recovery time.
