Smoking cessation
Tobacco is one of the strongest cancer-causing agents
known. Thirty percent of all cancer deaths in the U.S are
related to smoking. Smoking increases the risk of cancers in
the lung, throat, mouth, pancreas, kidney, bladder, and
cervix. It is also associated with heart disease, strokes,
peripheral vascular disease, emphysema, and bronchitis. The
CDC estimates that well over 400,000 premature deaths occur
each year due to smoking.
Most health problems related to smoking can be reduced
by stopping. Quitting smoking is beneficial at all ages, and
the earlier one quits, the greater the benefits. Men, who quit
smoking by age 50, reduce their risk of lung cancer by almost
two thirds compared to men who continued to smoke to age 75.
Most smokers will quit and restart several times before
they are truly able to give up. At the Shanti Medical
Spa & Wellness Center, we understand the
difficulty in quitting smoking. We offer a variety of methods
to help you quit smoking, ranging from counseling and follow
up, prescription medications, to herbal and alternative
therapies. Call today to speak with our physician about the
